This 8-hour crash course with American director Simón Adinia Hanukai is designed to give actors interested in performing for theater or film an introduction to working with full awareness of their body and mind. The course will combine a number of techniques that further develop physical presence, versatility and communication of the participants. While focusing on acting, the course will expose students to creative modes of text work and character analysis, essential to performance preparation. The course will also serve as an introduction to Viewpoints, currently a staple in American theater training.
Viewpoints is a technique and theatrical vocabulary that originally grew out of post-modern dance and was adapted for actor training by Anne Bogart and SITI Company (New York). Viewpoints breaks down the performer’s life on stage into elements that identify his/her relationship to time and space. It serves as a platform for performers to develop a sense of the ensemble and to fluidly and intuitively create together in the moment.
The course will benefit performers who work in all genres of theatre and film, and is open to participants of any level of experience.
